Riviera Maya Holidays

Holidays
Maybe at some point in your life, you’ve heard of Cancun. For many, it is a vital tourist place in Mexico. Whether it’s for its beaches, theme parks, or the endless nightlife of the hotel zone.

It’s the perfect place for a holiday with all kinds of adventures and thrills. If you haven’t had a chance to visit this place yet, I’ll tell you some essential things about Cancun if you decide to spend your vacation in this paradisiacal place.

First of all, you should know that it is located in Mexico, to be more precise, in the Yucatan Peninsula. Its climate is temperate, and temperatures remain between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep in mind that temperatures drop from June to October, and it is a season of intense storms and hurricanes. So if you’re looking for a sunny climate, the ideal months to travel are from November to May.

Beaches

I think this is essential if you visit Cancun. Thinking about it, I don’t think anyone who decides to spend their holidays in Cancun would want to see its beaches swim in its turquoise waters or sunbathe and relax. The most important and major ones are “Playa Delfines”, “Playa Tortuga”, “Playa Caracol” and “Playa Langosta”. All of them are in the guest zone. Remember this, in Mexico, the beaches are public, and you don’t have to pay to access them.

Theme Parks

A highly recommended place to visit in the Riviera Maya is “Xcaret,” an ecological theme park located at km 282 from the Chetumal-Puerto Juarez highway and 74 Km from Cancun International Airport in the direction of Tulum.

I can assure you that you will not regret visiting this place; you will be able to see marine species, exotic birds, and even panthers up close. You can also snorkel, swim with dolphins or swim in its subway river. At its main pavilion, you can witness its attractive final show, don’t miss it!

Another prominent place in the Mayan Riviera is Xel-Ha, an ecological park where more than 70 marine species live. This natural aquarium is considered the largest in the world.

Nightlife

Cancun’s nightlife is endless, especially in the hotel zone. Here you can find restaurants, clubs, bars, and discos with various famous concepts like “Coco Bongo,” “The City Cancun,” “Mandala,” “Dady’O,” and “Bulldog.”

This is one reason why many people from Mexico and abroad travel to Cancun to enjoy the vibrant nightlife of this area.

Most of these places have a cover charge of around USD 50 and include free drinks throughout the night.

Archaeological Sites

You have to know that Cancun is not just about beaches and parties. You can also find history in its Archaeological Zones by exploring the Mayan culture in the Chichen Itza Pyramids, a 3 hour drive away, or by visiting the Mayan Tulum ruins, very close to the seaside. About an hour and a half from Cancun.

  • Transportation from Cancun Airport
  • It is essential to know that the airport is 16 km from Cancun. This is not a problem since you are at the airport you will find many transportation options.
  • The first option you will come across is the ADO bus company. If you like comfortable travel and are not in a hurry to get to your hotel, this is an excellent option.
  • The cost of the ticket is USD 4.5, and departures are every 10 to 20 minutes.
  • The second option is the local cab service. I never considered it as the approximate cost is USD 40. Something very high considering the other options.

The third option is the Cancun airport shuttle. It’s perfect if you’re traveling with friends or family. Many companies offering this service will pick you up at Cancun Airport and take you to the hotel where you will be staying. There’s also a Cancun to Tulum shuttle at a good price. The best thing is that the price is per vehicle and not per person. I recommend you check on the internet before you make your trip; you may find good promotions.

And the last option is to rent a car in Cancun. The good thing about this option is that if you are adventurous, you will have the freedom to move wherever you want. Essentially the cost of gasoline is on your own. As a last resort, I recommend looking at the internet; you may find a good deal that suits your budget.

Now that you have some ideas of the good and the bad that you will find in your Riviera Maya vacation, hope you enjoy and have fun in this paradisiacal place in Mexico.
